*I received I Am Half Sick Of Shadows by Alan Bradley as a submission for the YABA
This was my first Flavia de Luce mystery (I realize it isn’t the first in the series) and I really enjoyed it. She’s like a quirky, English, Nancy Drew/Harriet the Spy with adventures that are a little darker. There’s a certain flare to the writing that reminds me of A Series Of Unfortunate Events and that’s what made me enjoy it so much. The book isn’t marketed to teens but I think it has a plot and feel that will appeal to them. There’s too much death in the series for it to be for children, and despite arguments I’ve heard, I’m not convinced it’s for adults.
This is a funny murder mystery perfect for a stormy December night.
