I am a volunteer member of Librarians Without Borders and we had some guest speakers yesterday that reminded me we should not take reading and libraries for granted. Norton Campbell, a past chair of CODE and his wife Maureen came to the University of Western Ontario to tell us about CODE and their experiences in Ethiopia.
CODE helps developing countries get reading materials and trained staff to help literacy. The couple took a tour to see the libraries and schools that were receiving books from the charity and their trip inspired them and others to do more in the efforts to provide African nations with relevant books.
